Your Dental Check-Up

Your Dental Health Starts With Regular Check-Ups

Regular visits to your dentist and dental hygienist is the best way to ensure your ongoing dental health. Your dentist and dental hygienist are qualified to identify any early or preventative problems before they become serious and painful. Your comprehensive dental exam will be carried out by your dentist and involves:

  • Checking your face, neck, lips tongue, throat, gums for any signs of mouth/oral cancer.
  • X-rays for the detection of decay, tumours/lumps, cysts, etc.*
  • Examination of all tooth surfaces for tooth decay.
  • Inspection of all existing restorations, e.g. Fillings, dentures, crowns, etc.
  • Examination of the gums and bone around the teeth for any signs of periodontal disease.

* Dental x-rays can reveal valuable information not generally detected during a dental exam. For example, bone loss, decay between teeth, and gum problems can be diagnosed with the help of x-rays. Your dentist or dental hygienist may recommend an x-ray based on the review of your medical and dental history, your age, signs and symptoms and other risk factors.

COVID-19 Update

Worthing Road Dental Practice is open. However, we may prioritise the vulnerable or those with the most urgent need. Get in touch with the practice if you need any advice.

There are no restrictions with regards to medical treatment and you are actively encouraged to keep your appointments. At WRDP we have all the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and will continue to follow our high standards in cross infection control.

If you are worried about your attendance, please contact us to discuss your concerns and we can always postpone your treatment till a later date.

We continue to recommend that patients in the high-risk category delay non-essential treatment until further guidance has been given by the relevant authorities.

Before you arrive:

According to NHS England Standard Operating Procedures, all patients now have to complete a COVID-19 Health Screening form before arriving for every appointment. We will also ask you to update your medical history, personal details, complete an oral health survey, etc. Therefore, we will email or text you a link, where you can complete all the forms. No need to print or sent anything back to us, it is all electronically uploaded.

You must wear a mask at all times while inside the dental practice and only remove your mask at the request of the dental professional.

We will continue to check your temperature and if this is above 37.8C, you will be advised to rebook your treatment and to follow government guidelines. Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes early for an appointment due to social distancing guidelines.

As you enter the building you will need to use the alcohol disinfectant rub to disinfectant your hands.

The treatment rooms will be prepared prior to your appointment with all surfaces disinfected after each patient. We have sourced PPE and unlike the start of the Pandemic (March 2020 in the UK), there is no shortage.

Stay safe and please contact us if you have any questions.

Kind regards
