Your Dentures

If you have missing teeth, you may require dentures to replace the missing teeth for both cosmetic and functional purposes. A denture is a removable fixture, made from metal or plastic. Dentures typically replace all (complete) or several teeth in an arch (partial) and may be needed to improve chewing, speech, sagging of facial muscles and cosmetic reasons.

If you need dentures fitted, you will require several appointments. Accurate impressions (moulds) of your mouth are necessary to create the complete or partial denture. Follow-up appointments will be scheduled to ensure shape, colour and fit are right before the final fitting. You may initially experience soreness, speech and chewing difficulties or an increased production of saliva. These symptoms will diminish once you are used to the new denture.

Complete dentures are removable for cleaning. You can brush partial dentures at the same time as your natural teeth.

As you are aware the Chief Dental Officer announced on 28 May, that dental practices across England will be allowed to begin the process of reopening for all emergency and routine face-to-face dental care from Monday 8 June.

We have been clear in all our communication throughout the pandemic, that our first priority is the wellbeing of our patients and colleagues, and this continues to be the case. As a result, Worthing Road Dental Practice will only be reopening once we are satisfied that we have all of the necessary processes and personal protective equipment (PPE) in place to ensure everyone’s safety.

Rest assured, we will be working through the information as quickly as possible as and when it becomes available.  We will be communicating directly with you soon and via our website with more information about when the practice will re-open. In the meantime, please do not attempt to make a new appointment. If you experiencing a dental emergency such as severe pain or need advice you should continue to contact the surgery who will be able to help on 01403 252646 or email us at
